I have never seen this kind of notice in elevators and I saw this today in Jaya One. Now why do you think they had to put this kind of notice up in the elevator? Perhaps people are pressing the buttons too hard that could spoil the button? I don’t know but I think we should all remember to press buttons gently, not only for buttons in elevators, perhaps your phone, remote and many more! :D
