Outback Steakhouse at Bangsar Village

Last night, I visited Outback Steakhouse in Bangsar Village as my birthday dinner. How I ended up here was the thought of having steak for the night and I read about this place on the Internet.

Once you’re at the Bangsar area, there’s no way you could miss Bangsar Village so getting you’re way here is pretty easy. Parking inside Bangsar Village can be costly as the first hour is RM3.00 and it’ll be RM1.50 for subsequent hours, fair enough as Bangsar is always regarded as a rich man area.

As a  complimentary starter, a loaf of bread was given. Nothing to go crazy about here but I kinda like the presentation for it. The bread was still warm when it arrived on the table. I think they should have given garlic butter instead of a pure butter, not unless the garlic wasn’t strong enough else my taste bud really tasted pure butter.

I ordered a Bushman ‘Shrooms which is actually mushrooms breaded and deep fried served with spicy ranch dressing. I liked it as the moment I took a bite at it, it was so juicy and it really wets the mouth. The fried mushrooms goes great with the dressing too. This has a price tag of RM17.95.

Next up is of course their steak. What’s the point of visiting a steakhouse without trying their steak? This is their  Outback sirloin steak and medium rare was requested. It is a 225 gr (8-ounce) center-cut sirloin, seasoned and seared to perfection. It was good and it will be dry if you eat it without the provided sauce so never forget the sauce. Their Outback sirloin is priced at RM44.95.

Besides steak, I’ve also ordered their BBQ Chicken Quarter which is smoked, roasted and glazed with their special BBQ sauce, served with coleslaw and garlic mashed potato. I would say this was good but the sauce can get really salty after a while and it makes me thirsty, other than that, chicken lovers can try this. It isn’t too expensive for this at RM25.95.

My experience in Outback Steakhouse was pretty good. The staff kept checking if the food was okay but overall their staffs were quite attentive. Food was good but I can’t say excellent. Should you need a new place to have western food, you might want to consider Outback Steakhouse. :D

Claypot Chicken Rice Delight in Bangsar

It has been a while since I’ve had claypot chicken rice for a meal and I came across this restaurant that has a claypot chicken rice stall from a food guide book and since this stall is able to be featured inside that book, it should be worth giving a try.

Restaurant Chun Heong is located in Lucky Garden, Bangsar to be exact. It was said that this stall selling claypot chicken rice is the only one around Bangsar area. I’m not too sure if there’s any other stalls or restaurants that sells claypot chicken rice though as this book was published last year if I’m not mistaken and there could be other stalls or restaurants around that sells it now.

From the book, one pot is enough for two small eaters and well it is true but if you are really hungry then I suggest you to have a pot on your own. Taste wise is good but nothing extraordinary and the book’s comment on this stall is as though that this claypot chicken rice stall is among the best which I myself don’t think it is that great compared to others. Also, I was actually tempted with the price stated in the book at RM4.50 for a pot but it has raised to RM8.00 per pot now. Besides just claypot chicken rice, this stall does sell steamed soup as well at RM3.00 per small bowl.

So much for the hype getting there after knowing about this stall from the food guide book, I think that this stall isn’t any greater than others but still it is decent enough and if you’re looking for something new or somewhere new then give this a try. :)

Sukico Hainan Cafe

Although I’ve not tried the Hainan coffee from Sukico Hainan Cafe in Damansara Utama, I can say it should be good since it is quite popular among the residents or frequent visitors of Damansara Utama.

Sukico Hainan Cafe

Locating it shouldn’t be difficult, you just have to find the McDonalds here as it is opposite McDonalds and very near to the Standard Chartered Bank, it is SS21/39 to be exact. You can watch out for the yellow colour board and you won’t go wrong. However, parking around Damansara Utama can be a problem especially during working hours.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

I’ve actually been to Sukico Hainan Cafe a few times and quite a fan of their Western food. This may be a Hainan cafe but their Western food is quite good to be honest. This Chicken Cordon Bleu with cheese in it is one of my favourites here. This one is priced at RM13.80.

Hainanese Fried Rice

Well there are a lot of styles if you mention fried rice so it is actually more or less the same. If you feel like eating fried rice, look no further as the Hainanese Fried Rice here in Sukico is really fried to satisfy most people. This Hainanese Fried Rice is priced at RM7.80.

Chicken Chop Rice

Actually it should have been a Hainanese Chicken Chop Rice to be reviewed but didn’t realize there were two chicken chop rice here. This one is the Western style but no worries, it is still that good and so far I have not much if none at all complaints for the food here in Sukico. This one is priced at RM9.00.

Being just a small cafe in an area like Damansara Utama is not easy. The food served here is good enough to have returning customers and regulars to keep this cafe running. Sukico Hainan Cafe has similar concepts with Kluang Station and Old Town White Coffee Cafe but it is just a slightly cheaper version of it minus the air-conditioning. Sukico Hainan Cafe also opens early at 7.30am for those who would like to have breakfast so you might want to try it out too for their breakfast menu. Verdict, Sukico Hainan Cafe offers a good value for their food judging by the taste of it as well as the price. :D

Dine at Backofen

If you’re looking for a change because you are just bored of Asian food, perhaps you should try Backofen which serves their food in Austrian style. Although the food may not look that much different of a Western delight, it is still good. :)

Backofen

Backofen is located in Desa Sri Hartamas. For those regulars who always hang around this area would be able to locate this restaurant quickly but for those who aren’t regulars, it might take quite some time unless you have a good sense of direction, however with the address of the lot then it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Spaghetti Carbonara

This Spaghetti Carbonara is served with turkey ham and obviously in white sauce. Simple it may look but it is good and the white sauce is really rich so you might get bloated if you aren’t a big eater. The Spaghetti Carbonara here is priced at RM11.00.

Chicken Chop

Their Chicken Chop or rather known as “Huhner Schnitzel” uses a skinless boneless chicken fried in breadcrumbs and served with potato salad. Chicken chop might be simple but it is much better than any ordinary chicken chop plus the breadcrumbs do add a little boost in it. This Chicken Chop is priced at RM13.00.

Grilled Chicken

Chicken lover but do not want it dry like the previous Chicken Chop ? Then this Grilled Chicken might be for you since it is served over mushroom sauce and crumbed potatoes. The mushroom sauce tastes good and is a good pairing with the boneless grilled chicken, what more can I ask for ? The Grilled Chicken here is priced at RM13.00.

When the food is good, it is no surprise that there will be no leftovers on the plate (well maybe a little). I find this restaurant to be quite a good place to dine especially if you want a quiet atmosphere. Price wise is not too bad ranging from around RM10.00 to RM15.00, there isn’t many restaurants around this area that have this kind of price tag. Moreover the food is good so the price shouldn’t be considered expensive for a satisfying meal. :D
