Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant

Filed under Food 15 Comments »

This post was actually posted in my blog when it was hosted with my previous web hosting provider. I am now recovering that same post by popular demand on Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant located in The Gardens Mid Valley. I took a look at the recent keywords that led visitors to my site and I still see quite a number of people searching for this restaurant.

Fong Lye

So this restaurant is usually packed and sometimes there might be quite a long queue too back then, I am not sure how is it now as I’ve not been to The Gardens for quite some time. My first impression on this restaurant from outside is the great atmosphere and the bright lightings, I guess not many likes a dim lighting in a restaurant unless they are looking for a romantic surrounding. Better lightings also help publishers be it from magazines or blogs to be able to capture better photos. :D

Their tea pot set is quite unique in my opinion, not your conventional tea pot set. Presentation is important too to give a better impression to customers. Without wasting some precious time, let’s move on to the food shall we ?

Taiwan Braised Beef Noodle

Their Taiwan Braised Beef Noodle was actually ordered by my sister because I do not eat beef (well once in a while). I can’t recall her saying that it is really good but I am very sure that there weren’t any bad comments on this, I guess this noodle is average and not enough to drive someone shouting “Excellent !”. This Taiwan Braised Beef Noodle is priced at RM18.80.

Fried Fish Fillet with Tomato and Fried Egg

Now this Fried Fish Fillet with Tomato and Fried Egg is one of their chef’s recommendation. I tasted this and what I can say is the fried fish fillet with tomato is a good combination along with the fried egg. Since it is a chef’s recommendation, first time visitors should try it. This Fried Fish Fillet with Tomato and Fried Egg is priced at RM19.80.

Taiwan Spare Ribs Rice in Sweet & Sour Sauce

This one is also another chef’s recommendation. My way of describing this one is it tastes similar to those spare ribs rice outside but of course much more tasty. If you are craving for spare ribs on the day you visit this restaurant, don’t hesitate to order this. This Taiwan Spare Ribs Rice in Sweet & Sour Sauce is priced at RM18.80.

Taiwan Chicken Chop Rice

So this Taiwan Chicken Chop Rice was what I order on my first visit here to this restaurant. My first bite on the chicken chop reminds me of the chicken chop of Uncle Bob found in most ‘pasar malam’. However the chicken chop served in this Taiwan Chicken Chop Rice is more crispy and in a way tastier than Uncle Bob’s. If you are a chicken lover then go for this. This Taiwan Chicken Chop Rice is priced at RM18.80.

Taiwan Baked Sausage

Last but not least a side order on my visit here was their Taiwan Baked Sausage. Well to be honest I don’t find this to be anything special, perhaps I just don’t know how to appreciate sausages, what’s more is this is a Taiwanese style. This Taiwan Baked Sausage is priced at RM5.80.

Overall I think that this restaurant offers some decent tasting food. However, the price isn’t too affordable so I will consider this restaurant to be quite pricey. Well a restaurant in The Gardens should be expensive as expected, as long as the food is good then paying a high price once in a while should be alright. By the way, Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant has two other branches, one in Jalan Imbi and the other in Desa Sri Hartamas. So how many of you have tried Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant ? Perhaps you could give your own feedback too. :)

Maybank has just announced a phishing site that imitates Maybank2U by randomly sending e-mail requesting customers to update the security of their accounts to obtain the username and password of Maybank2u.com customers. Maybank also clarified that such e-mails are not issued by Maybank and advises customers NOT to log in to any of the website links contained in the e-mail. If any of you received such e-mail and clicked the link, you are advised to change your password immediately.

The Singapore Flyer

I remembered that on my last visit to Singapore in December 2007, I was at the Merlion Park when I saw this huge Ferris wheel under construction. I thought it was some sort of Ferris wheel for some theme park but no when I got back home I discovered that the Ferris wheel is called Singapore Flyer.

Singapore Flyer

The above photo was taken during my last visit to Singapore, it was still under construction that time and now it looks really beautiful. In my opinion it is certainly a respond to Malaysia’s very own Eye on Malaysia. :P

The Singapore Flyer is currently the world’s largest observation wheel standing at 165 m (541 ft) tall taking away that title from the London Eye. The wheel features 28 air-conditioned capsules, each with a floor area of 26 m² (280 sq ft) and capable of holding 28 passengers each, that means it is able to carry 784 passengers at a time. One complete trip will last for 30 minutes.

Although the Singapore Flyer is currently the world’s largest observation wheel, The Great Beijing Wheel is a proposed Ferris wheel for Beijing, China and it will take the title of the world’s largest observation wheel from the Singapore Flyer when it is completed. It is planned to stand at 208 m (682 ft) and will carry up to 1,920 passengers. It is estimated to be completed in 2009.

Any reasons to visit this Singapore Flyer ? Well one of the obvious reasons is it’s the world’s largest observation wheel. Besides that, it is also the only place to see Singapore’s magnificent cityscape. Still in need of better reasons ? :D

Although I’ve not been there to experience this Singapore Flyer but I can tell it is going to be one good experience that I’ll never forget if I really get to try it. I guess it is always better to try it out yourself rather than reading what others have to say so don’t forget to try it out if you will be visiting Singapore. I should stop now since I am like promoting tourism for Singapore rather than my own country Malaysia. After all, Singaporeans visits our country while we visit their country, fair enough. So what do you think of Singapore’s effort and money dipped into this Singapore Flyer ? :)

Dr. Mahathir Mohamad Blogs

Filed under Just Blabbing 19 Comments »

So indeed blogs are now commonly used to reach out to others as well as gaining some feedbacks and comments. Even our very own ex Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad don’t want to be left out and he started his own blog few days ago, 1st of May 2008 to be exact. You can visit his blog using this link. He bought his own domain chedet.com which is the pseudonym he used when he wrote articles for the newspapers.

He made his first post at 1.27am on the 1st of May 2008, at 5.00pm on the same day his blog has already received 10,000 visitors. The massive traffic to his blog is simply amazing as I don’t think many other new bloggers would have gotten 10,000 visitors in less than 24 hours.

Dr M’s first post was on the appointment of judges, he has than received 1075 comments (at the time of writing this post). Seriously I’ve never seen many blogs having 1075 comments especially on the first post. Dr Mahathir Mohamad can now be considered a celebrity blogger on his first day of blogging.

The above picture shows the total amount of visitors since he started the blog which the picture was taken not long ago, probably 30 minutes ago. How I wish I have this kind of traffic coming in. :P

Well I think Dr Mahathir Mohamad has chosen the right way to reach the people of Malaysia, never underestimate a blog as it does wonders. If you’ve not read or seen Dr M’s blog, you should visit his blog now. :)

The Beauty of Thailand

Filed under Just Blabbing 2 Comments »

I went to Thailand last February and celebrated my Chinese New Year there. While I decided not to spoil everything, I will just give a sneak preview of what you can expect in Thailand. I’m being kind to not post up all the photos so that you are able to explore Thailand without seeing many of the places on the Internet. :P

You can expect beautiful beaches in Thailand. The photo above was taken in Phuket and if you love “ang mohs” then Phuket is probably the place for you. Not to forget that the atmosphere here is great all day and night. During the day everyone will be at the beach either tanning or going for water sports while at night people will usually hang around bars and socialize.

You can also expect sunsets like the above photo. This photo was taken in Krabi, a small yet peaceful place if you are the type of person seeking for a peaceful surrounding to relax. Don’t expect much from Krabi if you are looking for a really happening place.

While I haven’t been to many places in Thailand, the places I went in February that time was already good enough to actually experience the lifestyle and atmosphere in Thailand. If you’ve not been to Thailand, I suggest you quickly book an air ticket along with your accomodation right away. :D

A Brand New Chapter

Filed under Announcements 8 Comments »

If you were a reader of yongkailoon.com you might be wondering what happened to it, well I have decided to start right from the beginning with a fresh new installation of Wordpress. I wanted a new start all along but couldn’t find the time to do it, I recently just changed to another web hosting provider and thus I thought might as well I just start all over again now rather than bringing over the old database to the new web hosting provider.

Now since this is considered a brand new blog now, everything from the previous one is gone so I would have to start from the scratch. My blogroll list is gone so I tried to search up blogs that linked to yongkailoon.com and added it to my blogroll as an exchange, yes I am still doing link exchanges so if you’re interested to exchange links with me or if you have previously added me to your blogroll but I’m not linking you back, do leave a comment with the link to your blog.

Also I will be using the Wordpress default theme as I find it really clean, simple and nice yet very customizable. As I do not want anything fancy for my theme so I decided to stick with the default theme. After all a blog’s layout isn’t 100% important right ? With a good layout it does give a good impression and presentation, that’s all. For me I prefer a pretty simple and clean layout.

Like I said previously that I’ll be busy with my college life so I won’t be updating frequently but still I will try to dig up some time for this blog. Personally I might treat this as a personal blog now which doesn’t aim to serve much or earn much, just pretty much for me, myself and I, not forgetting those who still wants to read. I hope all of you are doing well now, may God bless you. :)
