In Malaysia, we have two big players of the blog advertising scene which are Advertlets and Nuffnang. Both Advertlets and Nuffnang launched their company/service at about the same time and as far as I know based on my experience, Advertlets had a flying start capturing many bloggers’ attention to use display their ads while Nuffnang didn’t have as many users as Advertlets did. I was a previous member of Advertlets displaying their ads and I was pretty happy with their service as well as their payouts. After that it was just a pretty bad experience for me.

Many have been searching or asking “Why Advertlerts Suck ?”. Recently many bloggers displaying Advertlets ads were so furious that they had to let out their anger on their blogs as well as some forums. One big problem that bloggers on the Advertlets network mostly complained about their pending payouts, we’re talking about months of earnings still pending. I’ve read many blogs that complained about Advertlets and those who have months of pending payouts usually will be held because of a suspected click fraud or illegal activities such as getting involved in a traffic driving activity so eventually the earnings will then be forfeited. I am shocked that many blogs on the Advertlets network are usually suspected to be involved in either click frauds or illegal activities which doesn’t make sense. If there were a few cases then it is probably acceptable but just look at the amount of blogs suspected, it is unbelievable. It is as though that this is a standard procedure to suspect blogs for click frauds or illegal activities, this is just my assumption and I have no solid proof to back this statement, well if you did read about the complaints in many of the blogs currently under the Advertlets network then you can judge it yourself.
Now some of the complaints on Advertlets, one of them is by 5xmom and another is by jayceooi. SlowCatchUpKuan has posted an interesting entry on click frauds here. I was also previously suspected to be involved in a click fraud, some of the bloggers argued that it might be a sabotage issue and I thought so too considering the amount of blogs being suspected. However, sabotage or not the main point here is that there are so many blogs that were suspected and even if a person is trying to sabotage I don’t think he is able to sabotage that many blogs. Of course there are people having no bad experience with Advertlets but those bloggers are usually either celebrity, famous or high profile bloggers. Now I begin to wonder why bloggers like Kenny Sia and Jeff Ooi chose Nuffnang instead ?
As a conclusion, if you are a happy blogger under the Advertlets network then I am really happy for you. If you aren’t then don’t worry as you are not alone. Want to share your stories as well ? Perhaps you could leave a comment with a link to your blog post on this matter. Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts if it is a fact. ![]()

No comment. Never did Adverlets before. A Nuffnang Gliteratti from the beginning.

Cool, I was a member of Advertlets before but then gave up because I was not happy with it. At that same time Gliteratti was launch so I hopped over to Nuffnang.

Was a member of Advertlets and earning is peanuts. And now I’m a nuffnang Glitterati and i can see my earning increase substantially every week… ads are coming too…
Glad i jumped ship from Advertlets…

Same here, at one point the earnings was just too low, ridiculously low. I only see those celebrity and high profile bloggers earning while those low profile bloggers don’t earn much compared to Nuffnang be it a having a Glitterati status or not. In a way Nuffnang seems to play it fair for low and high profile bloggers.

That Joker play around with the money sentiment
He is a sweet talker thou !!
Don’t support them as they cheated all the money by himself..
Joker, return all the money back to the advertiser, don’t eat it and bring to your graveyard !!

Whether he took the money or not still remains a question but now we all know that it is really difficult to receive the payments. Some are happy with them while some are not, but I think majority isn’t happy with Advertlets.

Hi,
I found your blog from malaysiabloggers.com. I use Google Adsense on my blog. Sometimes I got frustrated with Nuffnang as its advertisement will sometimes change into a tiny logo which shows “I serve Nuffnang”.
May 13th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Hi there, well true, if there are no charity or CPC ads then it will just show the “I Serve Nuffnang Ads” button. However I think that is just a small matter for most bloggers, after all they didn’t promise that all blogs will 100% get an ad. Hope you are doing great with your Adsense.

I also frustrated with adverteslets

Hi there, well don’t worry as you are not alone. Many are on the same boat as you.

I am quite disappointed with Advertlets because, my last cash out on Dec-03, was not paid till now. It’s nearly six months away.
Kai Loon, frankly speaking, I check out my Google Adsense on 24th April and I receive the cheque on 8th May. A foreign advertising company is faster in sending cheque than local. This proves that how unreliable Advertlets is.
I just throw out all Advertlets Ads and opt for Nuffnang and Google Adsense.
I need Google Adsense because my blog traffic come from foreign country more than local. Nuffnang only take local IP into account. Therefore, a need of foreign adverts are important.
I hope that there will be a significant change with another local advertising company, Nuffnang.

Yea I too have been disappointed with Advertlets but luckily I stopped using Advertlets quite early. It is even worse now judging by the complaints on them. Well the advertisers on Nuffnang are all local advertisers and therefore they would like to target the locals so only local visitors count. For me, I don’t think blogging as a profession so I wouldn’t mind if I’m earning much here or not, at least I don’t have to be frustrated like the Advertlets users now.

if advertlets have detected click fraud from the starting then they should have warn the publisher at first hand and barred the earnings. but no. they tell them after few months of cashing out which is ridiculous.

True that, it always happen when someone wants to cash out, somehow I don’t want to accuse them for anything but seriously their act is really fishy.

Here is my last account screen capture before my last message to advertlets “You can keep the RM 537.33. I’ve enough Dealing with advertlets”
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/2494293050_6678500916_o.jpg
RM 537.33 is nothing compare to the time i’ve spent reading excuses, answering stupid question & writing emails to them. I’ve Enough With Advertlets…
(You might see this comments on other blogs, but i have to update my comments before 100% close out the Advertlets issue.)
May 15th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
That’s a lot of money, now I wonder if Advertlets are going to keep all that money ?
May 15th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
As what I can say, I should stopped using it in the early age. Waste of time and money.
Well, at least I still earn with Google Adsense. I plan to stop blogging and concentrate on my STPM.
Well, Kai Loon, are you studying in any school or college?
May 15th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Well if one could earn with Google Adsense then it is much better to go with Adsense, the thing is not many could earn with it so going with a local blog advertising company is much better for this group of bloggers.
Yes I’m currently in IACT (Institute of Advertising and Communication Training) doing a Creative Multimemdia course.
May 18th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Kai Loon,
I think that Advertlets is keeping an eye on your blog.
Reason: I get a cheque dated 15th May 2008 on Saturday, 17th May 2008. I am sure about it because I commented here on 14th May 2008.
Therefore, I believe that my message was quite clear. I will never use Advertlets again unless, they gain back their user’s trust.
By the way, I hope that you will share your experience in using Nuffnang.
Oh ya, I will be retiring from blogging and all internet activities until the end of the year. I will have a new fresh start by then. Hopefully that my service to the netizen had been good all the while.
Last but not least, Kai Loon, good luck in your activities and I hope to see you someday.

If I’m not wrong Advertlets do keep an eye on blogs that made posts commenting about their service. Well if it is a fact I’m sure they have to accept it no matter what. Good to hear that you received yours.

Are you able to provide information about IACT Diploma in Graphic Design?
I am interested to pursue the course. Please advise.
